The training provides managers and decision makers with clear actions to take and strategies to implement to support and protect their staff and business. It is an important complement the Employee Training program and expand the managers’ understanding of their critical role in properly responding to sexual harassment complaints by their staff. It is strongly recommended that ALL Managers/Supervisors/Owners complete both the manager and employee training programs.
Starting in 2021, Illinois initiated a legal requirement that all state employers train their employees annually on sexual harassment prevention in the workplace. The state issued regulations outlining the requirements for the training, including fines for employers who fail to provide this training every year. With severe legal and financial consequences for employers whose employees claim to have been the victim of sexual harassment at work, no employer is exempt from this pressing issue. Even small employers with only one employee must comply!
Managers/Supervisors/Owners have a critical role in sexual harassment avoidance at work. This additional training session explains that training staff is only a part of risk and claim avoidance and employee safety. Properly responding to an employee complaint is critical. Avoiding or ignoring a complaint is not a good strategy and usually exacerbates the complaint and explodes the potential financial costs to resolve. And exposure for your staff for sexual harassment is not just from your other employees, but is also from your customers, vendors, visitors, neighboring businesses and after-hours social activities. This training addresses all these exposures.
